Other Online Babywise Resources

This post may contain affiliate links.
Here are some Babywise resources I have found online:

  • GrowingKids.org http://www.growingkids.org/: This site is a great resources where you can find current posts on Babywise principles. Gary Ezzo posts, as does his wife, Anne Marie. There are several other contributors. I have recently been added to the list. I find the site to be very helpful. The post include information from infants on up to teenagers.
  • I have started a Yahoo! Chronicles of a Babywise Mom group. It is private, but anyone can join: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/chroniclesofababywisemom/ . As of mid-July 2009, there are 256 members.
  • I am a member of another Yahoo! Babywise Group. It is called Ezzo Moms, with 100 members. I think there are other groups available, also. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Ezzo_Moms/
  • I am also a member of of a Babywise Group on Babycenter (babycenter.com). This group currently has 218 members, and growing quickly. It is a private group, so you have to ask to join. All requests are granted, but anyone wanting to bash on Babywise will be sent away. This is the most active group that I am involved in.
  • Ezzotruth.com (http://www.ezzotruth.com/). From this site, you can read a lot of useful infomormation on the facts of Babywise. It also addresses critics of Babywise material.

I am sure there are many other helpful sites and groups out there for Babywise moms. If you know of any, please feel free to add them by commenting to this post. If you aren't a member of any, please feel free to join. It is always helpful to have many minds helping you problem-solve.

If you are on Facebook, there is a good Babywise discussion group called I Love Babywise. It is an open group, but that ask that people who wish to bash BW stay on their own forums.

    1. Go to Yahoo.com2. On the left side of the page, you will see a list of links. Click on the Groups link.3. This page will allow you to search for a Yahoo group. Type in Babywise and hit search.4. The group is called Babywisemoms (the third one down when I search). Click on the link. 5. You will then be at the Babywise Moms Group home page.

I have a 5 month old boy that hardly sleeps and has reflux. We usually put him down to sleep after being fed and rocked. He will take 2 1 hour naps during the day (sometimes not even that), a short nap around 5:30 and starts getting sleepy again at 7:30/8:00. He'll sleep from then until around 1:30 AM to eat, is awake for about an hour and then wakes again usually around 5:30 AM to eat again. He might sleep for an hour again here, and then his day starts over.

I just read BW and we just started meds for the reflux. There are so many changes we need to make to get his sleep patterns under control, which BW changes should we start with? I'm a little overwhelmed with it all and not to mention, super tired. So is there any advice as to where I should start? CIO is out of the question... We've tried and he goes from 0 - 60 in no time and cries so hard he chokes himself.

Hi,
I have a six and a half week old that I am trying to get on BW schedule. I am a very inconsistent person with it because seems like everyday I have to go somewhere. My question is though, when I do plan to stay home all day and try to get the schedule right, from 530am or 6am to about 10am is a time where he sleeps great and I have been using those hours to catch up on sleep. He has been waking at about 2am then 330am then 5 or 6am! So I try to start the schedule at about 730am or 8am but I am soooo tired I accidentally sleep as long as he does and dont wake him up to feed him. and if I do wake him up or he wakes up at 8am then we both fall asleep while nursing (even tho I am sitting up! lol) only to awake at 10 when my 16 month old wakes up. Today we all didn't wake up until 1130!So when that happens should I try to continue the day on BW schedule? i.e after he eats giving him wake time then try to put him down? I did that this morning and he has been in his bassinet crying for 40 plus mins. That is what usually happens and then i go get him and nurse him after about an hour of crying, even if it has not been 2.5 hours bcause that is the only thing that makes him not cry, then he falls right to sleep, so I try to put him down. Then he wakes up 20 mins later and there goes the schedule! And how do I set a first day feeding when he wakes up so often at night still? I will take any advice! Please help!!

Hi Susan, I was never notified of your comment! Please let me know if you are still having trouble.

Adrienne, there are a lot of things to tackle here. First, you do want to have a consistent first feeding of the day. From there, do a eat/wake/sleep pattern. Look at the blog label "optimal waketime" for ideas on how to get things optimal and minimize difficulty sleeping.

When you put him down and he doesn't sleep, try to soothe him in some way other than feeding. This is creating a snacking pattern. Try a pacifier, swing, rocking, etc. See the blog label "CIO" for more help along these lines.

Try setting alarms so you can get up when you need to.

When you do fall asleep and wake at 11:30, feed him, have playtime, then naptime. Just maintain the cycle. Be sure to look through the blog index. There are many, many posts that will help you out.
