  1. I’ve seen you mention your children getting on a perfect and predictable schedule in parts of your blog, but could you write a seperate post on just this subject-when it happened, what you mean by “perfect and predictable”, etc.

  2. Hi! I am happy to report that my daughter has been taking her first nap the past 4 days, hopefully it will stay that way! I reduced her waketime by 30 minutes. I think she was working on a new skill at 3 months, and when she was done I failed to recognize that she did not need as long a waketime anymore. I thought she had increased it! Now Im working on the second nap.I do have one question though- this morning, shes started yawning 40 minutes after being awake. The last 3 days Ive put her to bed after her being awake for about an hour and a half in the morning, maybe a bit sooner. So if she starts showing tired signs early one day (those have come back too!), should I put her in bed early or keep her up until she normally takes naps? Shes yawned about 6 times. But shes not fussy yet, and usually the yawns precede the fussiness, which I then put her in bed right away. Im afraid this nap might be on the short side again! 40 Minutes just seems so short though for her. Thanks!

  3. Congrats on the progress KJackson! My guess at her age (4 months?) is that you could do normal waketime lengths unless you see she really needs a shorter one. Your best bet is to experiment. If you put her down when she shows the signs and takes a good nap, then go with that. If you wait and put her down at the normal nap time and she takes a good nap, go with that. The situation would be different for each child, so just experiment and see what works for her.

  4. val- I have a 20 week old and have been dealing with 45min naps now for 13 weeks. I swear it will never end. I put up with it and didn't mind because he was STTN great since 7weeks. The last couple of weeks he has been waking at 3,4,5 AM. This I am not ok with. I have kept him on a 3 hr schedule, because you told me before not to move forward until the napping gets better. Is this still what you would encourage? I had to go back to work so he is on formula now. He doesn't seem to be really hungry at any of his feeds. Should I push to move to a 4hr schedule?? His awake time is only 1-1.5hr. Any thoughts. I know when he wakes he's not hungry I have explored that option. I wondered if he was getting to much daytime "rest" because I leave him in his crib for an 1.5hr each session? Should I try dropping a nap/feeding? Or just keep riding out the nap situation until it clicks? Please Help. Thanks-Kristen

  5. Kristen,I still would say to not do a 4 hour schedule because if you do, you will have even more issues. If you can't do a 3 hour cycle now, then a 4 hour cycle will be even harder. Of course some moms find moving to a 4 hour helps things, so if you really want to try it, go ahead.20 weeks is the most major wonder week out there. See "wonder weeks" blog label.
