McKenna Baby Summary: Week 44

Schedule and routine for a 43-44 week old baby. Get info on this 10 month old daily schedule and routine for each day and know how to structure your day.

10 month old baby

Well, despite the lamenting I did last week, 10 months old came and went. She got older. She is now 10 months old!

NURSING

Things are still going well and we are still nursing 4 times each day.

SOLIDS/FINGER FOODS

Things are still good here with no news. She is a great and adventurous eater. She likes everything.

ECZEMA

Things are all good here, too. Her skin is in good shape.

DROPPING THE THIRD NAP

We are still in the weaning process but not dropped yet.

SIGNING

I was thinking about McKenna and her lack of signing things to me today. Kaitlyn was and is always a very good and early communicator.

I try to not compare my children to each other–I know, impossible right? I really haven’t mastered this and if I find a good trick for it, I will let you know.

Kaitlyn was signing ridiculously young, and by 10 months was a very good signer and saying several words. Communication is Kaitlyn’s very strong point. She is still amazing at it and ahead of her time. McKenna is more average.

However, I also realized that I have not been super diligent with the signing. I came to this realization because my husband has taught her to give fives and knucks–and she does it. He worked with her.

I sign in front of her, but don’t work with her because I didn’t have to with Kaitlyn. I have decided today I need to put more effort into the signing. I will let you know how it goes 🙂

TEETHING

Are you wondering where her second tooth is I talked about weeks ago? Yeah, me too. It is still bothering her, but it has not made its appearance. She is not happy. She moans a lot. Poor little thing.

SIBLING PLAYTIME

We started working in a more official sibling playtime this week. You can read about how I do it in detail on my sibling playtime post.

Basically, when starting, I first observe the children playing with each other and try to slowly become more of a fly on the wall than a mommy in the room.

This week, I started to move out of the room for about 5 minutes. I stay about two steps away and in ear shot, but I let them play alone. I walk in on some cute moments 🙂 Today, McKenna and Kaitlyn had their heads together looking at a book.

OUR SCHEDULE

8:15 AM–wake, nurse, solids (prunes or peaches/apricots and oatmeal). This is when we do a bath and independent playtime. We then do sibling playtime.
10:15 AM–nap. On Monday, she needed the nap at 10 since she had missed a nap at church.
12:30 PM–wake, nurse, solids (green veggie and applesauce. Sometimes mix with blueberries or cherries). She then “helps” me put Brayden in rest time (which just means telling him to go) and Kaitlyn down for her nap. This is then free play with me in the same room.
2:10 PM–nap
4:30 PM–wake, nurse, solids (yellow veggie and bananas or pears). Then time with Daddy.
5:30ish PM–dinner with family. Finger foods and what we are having. Then time with family.
6:45 PM–nap. Some nights, she stays up until 7:00. Since most of this week included this nap, I am including it in our schedule.
7:45ish PM–wake, nurse, PJs, story, prayers, bed
On nights we dropped the third nap, we did:
7:15-7:30 PM–nurse, PJs, story, prayers, bed.
