McKenna is now 2.5 plus three months old.

McKenna just loved Santa this year. She had no idea what Santa was supposed to do, but she loved him.

My girls have some special spirit about them where they absolutely love the elderly (not to call Santa old…).

I cannot tell you how many older people my girls have just made so happy. Most children are afraid of the older people who are wheel chair bound, who have Parkinsons and shake, who are very skinny, who have arthritis, and so forth. My girls are not. I take no credit for it, they are just little sweeties.

EATING

Eating is normal. She still eats well.

PLAYING

McKenna’s favorite present at Christmas was a Fisher-Price Princess Castle. She loves to set her little dolls up and play princess with them. It is so strange to see her getting older and able to play with stuff in that way. 

SLEEPING

Sleeping at night is normal. Her naps have been a little off. This I blame to potty training mostly. She has been up every 15 minutes needing to go potty and poop for two hours. She also really wants to play. I will also blame the lack of outside play since it was so very cold all month. 

POTTY TRAINING

We randomly started potty training one day. It is not like me at all. She woke up, I had the thought to potty train her, so I asked if she wanted to wear panties, she said yes, so we did it.

She did incredibly well! She had some accidents as is to be expected, but not as many as I thought she would.

She had a hard time getting the hang of just letting herself use the bathroom on a toilet, as is normal, but she got over it very quickly. It was an exhausting first day, but after that, she has been really easy. 

She wanted to sleep in panties from the get-go, which made me nervous but if she wanted to stay out of a diaper I was going to let her (though I did tell her nighttime was non-negotiable at this point).

She mostly stayed dry, but she would pee in her sleep sometimes, so we do pull-ups for naps. I call them “naptime panties.” That way we don’t need to change sheets daily. She wakes dry half of the time and wet half of the time.

Now, let me be clear that when I say it was all rather easy, I mean for potty training.

On the potty training scale, it was on the easier end.

I don’t find potty training to be anywhere near relaxing or easy in general. In fact, I was totally exhausted by the end of the first day. And running to her room every 15 minutes during naptime isn’t exactly relaxing, either.

She was, however, willing and trying her very best, so as far as potty training goes, it was easy.

EAR INFECTIONS

Another trip to the doctor and another double ear infection! Poor thing. He decided to give it another round of stronger antibiotics and see if we could get it cleared up, so we will be doing another round and check before moving on to the ENT.

I really don’t want her to get tubes the more I learn about it, but we shall see what happens.

FAVORITE TOYS

Babies and Little People things are her favorites. And dress up.

4:00 or 4:30–Get up–or free play. 
5:30–Dinner
6:00–Family Activities
7:30–Get ready for bed
8:00–Bedtime
