Quotable Mondays: Wisdom

Today's quote is:

"Wisdom is nothing more than healed pain."

Ah this is so true! We gain wisdom through our experiences. This quote is quite meaningful to me since I just finished reading The Giver by Lois Lowery. If you have read it, you know why. If not, I recommend it. It is quite though provoking.

This is true in parenting. Moms who are able to give you advice to help solve your problems have either a) read enough information to know what good solutions are or (and most likely) b) have been through the difficulties themselves to know how to help you solve those difficulties. "B" is true of myself. I am able to give advice on how to solve a myriad of issues because I have been through it and know what worked for us to solve those issues.

So the next time you envy the wisdom of someone you know, recognize the "pain" required to help her achieve that wisdom. And the next time you are going through your own pain, try to hold strong, knowing that this pain will bring you wisdom.

What a true quote for sure. I never thought about it that way. Speaking of wisdom, i have some questions for you since you have more experience than i do. I only have 2 kids :) Anyway, if i dont hear back from you at this post i will prob. re-post it again on your newborn summaries.
1. how long was brinley's nap when she fed at 4:30. My 6 week old barely gives me 20-30min for that nap. which means he is up for an hour or more before his last feeding at 7:30. by that time he is really grumpy and cries while nursing him. not sure what to do. should i feed at 7:00 and put to bed then?
2. what is your bedtime routine with brinley. how long is she up between her last nap and her bedtime?
3.what do you do when you are at an event near bedtime or at bedtime? we have a bday party we need to go to starting at 6:30pm and we wont be home at our normal 7:30 bedtime feed. what do you do?
4. do you do her last feeding which is at 7/7:30 up in her room in a quiet place or down with the rest of the family?
THANKS FOR YOUR ADVICE!!!!

Did you know Lois Lowry wrote a series based on The Giver? There are 3 more books: Gathering Blue, The Messenger, and The Son. I read Gathering Blue and I'm reading The Messenger right now. Both so good!

I read a nice quote in a Gloria Gaither book. It says "we have this moment to hold in our hand, And to touch as it slips through our fingers like sand. Yesterday's gone and tomorrow may never come, But we have this moment today.
