Spinach

I gave the basic rundown on how to grow spinach here. A lot of my lettuce didn’t come up so I re-planted it. I talked with the owner at my favorite local nursery and he said it likely dried out too much. Spinach is planted at 1/4 inch deep. We have had a pretty dry spring overall. He said he plants his spinach at 1/2 inch deep so that it won’t get too dry being so close to the surface.

Onions

I gave the basic rundown of how to grow onions here. There isn’t anything interesting going on with the onions other than that they are growing.

I gave the basic rundown of how to grow carrots here. Carrots start out by looking like tiny blades of grass–much like spinach. I have circled it for you in the picture below.

The Rest
I will just show you the rest since I haven’t written about them yet. I have planted tomato plants, pepper plants, pepper seeds, zucchini seeds, and little pumpkin seeds. These are all things that are tender and can’t handle a frost, so I cover them with a wall-of-water. This keeps the plants warm.

May 3, Tomatoes–all plants
May 3, Zucchini and Small Pumpkin planted from seed
