Brinley Preschooler Summary: 42 Months Old {3.5 Years!}

This is a summary for Brinley from 41-42 months old.

SLEEPING
Sleeping is great. She still naps most days and is sleeping well at night.

EATING
Eating is good. There are no problems.

BOUNDARY PUSHER
Brinley's boundary pushing has greatly relaxed. She isn't testing as intensely as she was last month, but I wouldn't say that it is over yet, either.

She is really, really good with people who are consistent with their rules and don't let kids get away with things. She is super good for me. I have a few friends who are very similar to me and she is good as can be with them, too. When she gets with the super nice people who let kids set the boundaries...not so great. That is when she tests limits, and she seems to like to test until she reaches the edge, so if no edge is given, she will continue testing.

CHURCH CHANGES
Brinley has moved from nursery to primary at church. Now instead of spending two hours playing with toys and getting a snack and maybe a short lesson, she spends most of that same time sitting and listening to lessons and singing. It can be a rough transition. Brinley is nervous about it. Brayden was nervous at this transition, too. He handled his nerves by crying. He just sat in his chair and cried. Brinley is handling it by demanding McKenna stay by her or trying to get to McKenna every chance she gets. I talked some about this in her last post.

Our church changes time each year, and this year we are at 1-4 PM. This is a rough time for her since she naps. Brinley is not a nice tired person. It is not ideal conditions for the transition from nursery to primary. A couple of weeks ago, she hit a child in her class. That is a hard one because she isn't a hitter so it is hard to deal with at home. I told her a consequence she would get if she did it again so she knows it isn't acceptable.

As we observe the kids, however, we see Brinley is not the only problem. There are kids who try to run away and kids screaming so hard they almost puke...so her behavior isn't perfect, but most if not all kids are struggling in some way. Bad time of day for a big change like that.

ENTERTAINER
Brinley is a stereotpyical youngest child (according to Leman) and is an entertainer. She loves to get  a laugh and get a reaction.

DANCE SHOWCASE
Brinley had a dance showcase this month. She was so cute. She tried hard to not wave at us, but my husband happens to love when the three year olds wave at their parents, so he incessantly waved at her until she waved back.

FAVORITES
Brinley loves to play with LEGOs. And not Duplos like would really be more age appropriate. She plays with LEGOs. She also loves to play dress up, play with Barbies, play with stuffed animals, and look at books. Those are are her top 5 things she does during playtime.
