Brinley Toddler Summary {24.5 Months Old}

This is a summary for Brinley from ate 24-24.5 months old.

CORRECTION
For the last summary, I accidentally put that Brinley has a sippy of milk her bed. That is not correct–she has a sippy of water. I like water by my bed, so I give it to my kids. They all have water. But we haven’t ever done milk.

SLEEPING

Sleep is pretty much the same. She is still crying when you leave the room because she is trying to figure out how to delay for one more moment. She cries for less than a minute. I am trying to figure out how to stop this. I am super consistent with nap time and nap routine. Some days, she doesn’t cry and I can’t figure what the difference is. I think it is really just her mood at the moment.

EATING

Eating is good. Nothing of interest going on.

PLAYING

Playtime has been good. She can’t get out with the safety knob on the door.

Speaking of doors, she is able to open the doors to the outside AND can unlock handles. She can’t reach dead-bolts, so at least we have that going on.

LEARNING TIME

Brinley is loving learning time. She loves to color and she loves playdough. I got it out the other day and she played happily for an hour solid. I had to stop her at nap time. She just loved it.

UNDRESSING

One day, I told Brinley it was time for a bath. I was just finishing cleaning up breakfast. She responded, “Okay!” When I turned around, she had completely undressed herself! Hopefully she doesn’t use that ability in bed!

CAMPING

We went camping during this period. Not just any camping, but our first time camping in a tent with four kids. I was concerned about her being warm in the first place because toddlers do not stay in sleeping bags or under blankets (at least none of mine). When we got there, it was raining and cold. My parents were there, too, so the first night she stayed in their camper with them. The second night, we put her in our vehicle. We had her in her peapod She slept really well in there and slept until 8:30-9:00 in the morning, which is pretty unheard of camping. She enjoyed camping and things went well.

WELL-CHECK

Brinley had her well-check during this time. Everything is looking great! She is healthy and doing well.

ICE SKATING

We also went ice-skating during this time (indoor). I share just to tell you that when we ice skate with a little one like Brinley who could never skate, we put her in an umbrella stroller and have her ride in that around the rink. The other kids love to push her and she loves to ride along.

  1. What kinds of things do you do for learning activities? We attempt to learn shapes, colors, etc, but I have been looking for more structure. How do you go about it? Do you plan the whole week out at a time? Thanks!!

    • Ashley have you ever looked at the blog I contributed to "learningdevelopmentactivities.blogspot.com"? There are a lot of ideas of how I do it on there. I am also about to release a book I have been writing that is a one year curriculum for homeschool preschool. Hopefully it will be in September!

  2. I am having the same bedtime issue with my 32 month old so if you figure it out please let me know! Like Brinley, my son is on a very consistent schedule so I'm at a loss.

  3. Hello, Valerie, I`m the one who asked about the sippy. So, I decided to just go cold turkey and stop giving my daughter the sippy/bottle of milk in the early morning, for the last two mornings. At bedtime I explained to her what was going to happen (She says something like "ok, deal"). But she woke up at the usual time in the first morning and started calling me "mummy, open the door! Milk, milk!". That´s not good at all to hear, but I know that in about three nights she will be done. And I like to leave a sippy of water in the crib too, but just once she actually had it. Sorry for my english.. Thanks, Flávia

  4. Oh, and I´m pregnant with my second child, so I don`t want to create any new "bad habit" now.. I already have to wake up early to go for work, so any 30 minutes are precious to me..
