15 year old Kaitlyn playing the piano

This is the latest on Kaitlyn from 14.75-15 years old.

EATING

Eating is good! It is continuing as normal.

SLEEPING

Sleeping is good. Kaitlyn is wanting to stay up later than she used to on weekends. She is learning to deal with what that means the next day. We don’t let her stay up until whatever hour she would like, but she does stay up later than we used to allow (on weekends).

PUPPY

Things with the puppy are going well. She did have a brief period where she was not enjoying having a puppy. She even asked if she could give the puppy to Brinley.

I told her she had to think about that longer because if she did it, she couldn’t take it back. I also told her she couldn’t just pass all responsibility to Brinley. There are certain things that a 9 year old can’t be expected to do. It would be more of a “joint ownership.”

She was feeling ready to do this…and then she wasn’t. She only considered it for a few days, then decided against it.

The puppy has gotten a lot easier and is maturing quickly right now.

SCHOOL

School is going well! Kaitlyn is still enjoying it. She is on the track team, but she got injured right after I paid for her to be on the track team, so she hasn’t ran at all yet.

ACTIVITIES

At a soccer tournament, Kaitlyn got kicked in the foot. It happened just so that it sprained her toe. I gues it is like a turf toe. She has been out for two months. She is just about to go back! She had to do physical therapy for a while.

Voice

Kaitlyn is taking voice lessons now. She has really enjoyed it and has gotten to be a much stronger singer in a short time. She loves to sing and has excellent pitch.

Piano

She is still taking piano lessons and teaching piano to Brinley.

MOOD

There has been a lot more moodiness than she has ever had during this time period. A friend of mine with a daughter the same age sat by me at a track meet last month and we just laughed and laughed as we exchanged stories of our girls and their various emotional states.

If you have a teenager this age who is moody, it is normal.

It is super helpful if you can find someone you can talk to about it. It helps to realize you aren’t alone and your teen is normal. It also helps to be able to just laugh about it.

Sometimes being a parent of teens can feel lonely. With toddlers, you can share with other parents the crazy things your toddler is doing. You can even share on social media about it.

But you want to give your teens privacy. So you keep it to yourself. I really encourage you to find someone you trust that you can talk to with.

DAILY SCHEDULE

Here is the daily schedule for this time period.

6:00 AM Get up and get ready for school
7:30 AM Leave to go to school
3:00 PM Get home from school
5:30 PM Dinner (typically)
10:00 PM Time to turn in devices and go to bed (if she hasn’t already)
