This is a summary for McKenna from 16.5 years old to 16.75 years old.
SLEEP
Sleep has been good! This time period was not as busy as far as extracurricular activities. Because of that, she was able to sleep when she wanted to and had control over that.
EAT
Eat was good and continued on the same as it has been.
SCHOOL
School has been going well. Her classes have gone well. She finished her first trimester and moved into her second trimester during this time. She is taking quite a few concurrent enrollment classes this tri, so she has more homework than she is used to.
She had the Sadie’s dance and Senior Ball during this time, also.
Track practices are starting again, so she will be attending those to prepare for track season starting in a couple of months.
She also took the ACT during this time and did really well!
WORK
McKenna has a small job that she works at to earn some money. She is thinking about the timing of possibly getting a more time-demanding job.
PIANO
McKenna had her piano recital during this time. She was super nervous. As I mentioned in her last update, she hadn’t had a lot of time to practice because of high school soccer. She only had a couple of weeks after the soccer season ended before she had her recital. But she nailed it! She played her song perfectly and felt so relieved.
SOCCER
High school season ended and club practices started up a couple of weeks later. She has been practicing just once a week through November and December, but practices are picking up in January as well as an indoor league.
TEENS GROWING OLDER
A fun thing about parenting is seeing your kids get older and seeing their individuality come out more and more. The older they get, the more they become themselves and hone in on who they are. Something about McKenna is she is very, very clean and organized. She literally pulls every item from her closet a couple of times a month to go through it and get rid of items. One day I came home from running errands and she told me she had organized our entire walk-in pantry. It is super nice to have her help in organizing and decluttering things.
We find it funny that she is all about getting rid of things because when she was a young elementary child, she cried when we got a new fridge. So she hasn’t always been so willing to just part with things as she is now. I also don’t think I ever described her as very clean or organized when she was a younger child (but to be fair, she did share a room for most of her younger years, so who knows what would have been obvious if she had her own space).
SCHEDULE
Here is a typical school day schedule:
6:40 AM — Get up and get ready for school
8:00 AM — School starts. School then soccer practice
5:00 PM — Get home from school. Work. Homework
10:00 PM — In bed
