McKenna in Alaska

This is a summary for McKenna from 16.25 years old to 16.5 years old.

SLEEP

Sleep was good other than she was tired a lot because of high school soccer. She needed extra sleep from all of the physical exertion, but you can’t always get extra sleep with everything else going on in a day. This was mostly a problem once school started.

EAT

Eat was good. She takes a home lunch to school every day because she really does not like the school lunch.

SUMMER

A good portion of this time was in the summer. She spent 4 days a week working out and training with the high school soccer team. She also went to physical therapy twice a week to continue to work on her tendonitis in her ankle. We went on a cruise to Alaska and camping in Wyoming. It was a fun time!

SCHOOL

School has been good. Now that she is a junior, she can take concurrent enrollment college classes. So she will have harder classes this school year than she has had.

She has already had homecoming this year and had a lot of fun with that. Next up is Sadies. A tip for buying dresses for dances. I don’t love spending a lot of money on dresses that you wear one time. You can, of course, borrow from friends or rent.

A while ago, we started just buying about 5 dresses from SHEIN. Then they try them on and pick their favorite one and we return the other dresses. THEN instead of buying an expensive dress, I buy a nice pair of shoes. They might choose some dance shoes or some tennis shoes (a lot of girls go to dances in tennis shoes here, which I find brilliant). They wear the shoes over and over again.

PIANO

She is still taking piano. She has really struggled having time to practice with school, soccer, and working a part time job. I don’t mind her progress being slow, but a stressful thing is her piano recital is the beginning of November. It has traditionally been in December, so she has had time to practice after soccer ended. But this year, it will be cutting it very close.

SOCCER

She is playing high school soccer again (as I have mentioned). She loves the girls so much. It does keep her very busy and exhausted. At the time of mewriting this post, they are about to start playoffs. Regular season is over and they took first in their region again!
