Babywise was recommended to our family by a friend, who is one of ten children, and her mom used Babywise with great sucess. Our daughter, Lillian, is 15 months old. We have been using Babywise (and another book recommended on this blog, The Baby Whisperer Solves All Your Problems) since birth. She was exclusively breastfed, on a schedule, until she was almost 8 months old and I never had any problems with my milk supply – in fact, I had more than enough milk. At 8 months she started table foods and I weaned her at 13 months. Although we have had some hard days, especially during transitions, she has done very well with naps/nightime sleep and people are amazed by what a good sleeper she is. Sleep is very important to us, especially since I (the mom) work part-time from home and need to be sleeping at night and have those naps to work! She started going to sleep on her own for naps at 7 weeks old and slept through the night (8 hours) at 10 weeks old. By 7 months old, she was sleeping for 11 hours at night. Now, at 15 months old, she takes one 3.5 hour nap and sleeps 11 – 11.5 hours at night. She also plays very happily on her own in the playpen (twice a day for 30 minutes). My husband and I treasure every moment with our happy, healthy little girl and are grateful to Babywise, which has made parenting a wonderful experience for all of us.
