This is a summary for McKenna from 15 years old to 15.25 years old.

SLEEP

Sleep is still good! If you have followed McKenna’s summaries from baby on up to now you have no doubt noticed the girl has always liked sleep. I have decided her happy place is taking a nap while there is either a football or futbol game on the television. It really is probably one of her favorite things right now.

SCHOOL

School ended well! She did great in school and enjoyed it. She is definitely looking forward to being a Sophomore in high school next year and not a Freshman anymore.

VACATION

During this time, we went on a family trip to Florida. We spent many days at the Universal parks. We had a lot of fun! McKenna doesn’t like to be hot or tired.

LEARNERS PERMIT

McKenan has her learner’s permit to drive! Brayden and Kaitlyn were both so excited for this that they signed up basically on their birthday. McKenna was a few weeks later, and I had to coax her through signing up. She was excited, but I guess didn’t feel the need to rush.

SUMMER

Summer has been good so far. She has spent a lot of time at the high school going to soccer practice with the high school team. She has been helping coach Brinley’s soccer team.

She has also participated in a youth church camp for a week and loved that. She really enjoyed the intense focus on learning the gospel all week and also having fun socializing with others.

WISDOM TEETH

A less exciting part of the summer was getting her wisdom teeth out. She is on the younger end for it. Most kids are at least 16, but even more are older than that. They were starting to grow in, so she had them removed.

Since they were growing in, it was a really simple procedure. She didn’t have as easy of a recovery as I thought she would, though. It wasn’t worse than typical, but I thought it would be better than typical. Instead it was just typical.

She did get really discouraged during the process from eating just liquid and soft foods. McKenna loved food, and it got to where she basically didn’t feel like eating anything. She survived, but did lose about 7 pounds.

I always thought McKenna would be HILARIOUS when she got her wisdom teeth out. She is fun and bubbly. She was actually so tired. She just wanted to sleep it off. That also fits her very well.

I also came to really understand that she really doesn’t care about a lot of things. When they are coming out of the surgery, they are really super honest. So I took the opportunity to ask her about he favorites in life. She always says she doesn’t and is fine with anything. That held true during my questioning. She really is just easily pleased and easy going. I have always tried to encourage her to share her opinion, but she really doesn’t care. Very middle child.

PIANO

Piano is going well. She is getting a lot better and can see that she is a lot better. She has always had some struggle because she is the third child in the family taking piano. And not only the third, but the third with two older siblings who really dove into piano. They both loved it and worked many, many hours on it. She has always felt like she isn’t good because she isn’t as good as they are. That makes sense since she is so much younger than them, but it still hindered her motivation to really work at it until recently.

We had to start recording her playing a song at the beginning of each week. Seh would be so frustrated and declare she wasn’t making progress. So we would record it, then the next week play it back for her. She soon realized she actually was making quite a bit of progress each week. That helped her be more willing to put in the work.

SOCCER

Soccer was good! She had her spring season. She loves her current club team. They are great. She has been doing high school stuff this summer. Tryouts are at the end of July.

SCHEDULE

Here is a school schedule

6:50 AM-Get up and get ready
7:30 AM-Go to school
3:00 PM-Get home from school
5:00 PM-Dinner. Family time. Homework if any. Chores. Piano practice. Activities.

10:00 PM-In bed

And a basic summer schedule.

7:00 AM-Get up and get ready for soccer
7:40 AM-Leave for soccer and workouts
9:30-11:00 AM-Get home (time varies based on what is being done at soccer)
Chores, lunch, free time, time with friends
5:00 PM-Dinner. Free time, family time, time with friends
11:00 PM-In Bed (exact time varies)

A note, for summer, I keep a note on my phone that I have shared with all of the kids. In the note, I have listed what they need to do each day as their daily responsibilities. Some are daily requirements (like getting ready, picking up bedroom). Others vary from day to day (like a laundry day, a dishes day, etc.). Then I can see if they have done everything or not.
