EATING
Eating is good. I think for the first time in her life, she is just eating meals without having to be prodded to eat some portion of it. She eats what she knows she is supposed to. The pickiness she was having last time has gone.
SLEEPING
I shared this on McKenna’s summary, but Kaitlyn and McKenna are now sharing a room instead of Kaitlyn and Brayden. Things are going well. Kaitlyn is in the same room, so it isn’t that different for her. She needs about 11-12 hours at night.

EXTRA CURRICULARS
Kaitlyn still did piano, dance, gymnastics, and swimming. She also did her first year of basketball during this season. She really enjoyed it!
CRUSHES
Oh…so Kaitlyn is a little boy crazy. I think that is crazy for a child of her age, but I know it isn’t unheard of. For a long time, she had a crush on a friend of Brayden’s. This was great because this friend has no interest in girls at all and she didn’t see him all that often so she could have this far off crush. The boy’s mom thought it was cute and she said she always had crushes on boys at that young of an age, too.
One day, Kaitlyn came home just giggling. I asked her what was up and she said that a boy in her class said he wants to marry her. Oh boy. He is a very cute boy and comes from a great family, but I liked it better when she had a crush on a boy who she rarely saw and who didn’t even think about her 🙂

WILLING PERFECTIONIST
A great quality about Kaitlyn that I wish I could bottle up and pass around is that she is a hard worker. She is very willing to work hard to get good at something. She will work and work and work at whatever it is she wants to be good at. She takes instruction and direction very well.
ART
Kaitlyn loves art. Our school does a night each year where students display artwork they did. It is judged. Kaitlyn entered in every category except one (and she did very well). She just loves it so much that she wants to do it all.
FAVORITE TOYS AND BOOKS
Magic Tree House books really took off for her during this period. She has also enjoyed the Tales from Dimwood Forest books, among others. She still does a lot of art and still loves stuffed animals. When she is playing with McKenna, she plays dress up or with Barbies. She has come to love Pokemon cards in the last few weeks.

SCHEDULE
Here is our typical school day schedule.
7:00–wake up. Eat breakfast. Get Ready. Practice piano. Chores.
Go to school.
Come home from school.
4:00–Homework. Free play until dinner.
5-5:30–dinner. Family time
7:00–start getting ready for bed
8:30–in bed

i'm curious on 1 thing on the roomsharing. since kaitlyn goes to bed late at 8:30 PM and McKenna goes earlier (i thought your summary said 8ish for her) does Mckenna actually just go to bed and fall asleep while you are still in there with Kaitlyn for 30 min? Or is it staggered so Mckenna is in there alone at 8 and then Kaitlyn is elsewhere and she goes to bed on her own at 8:30 when mckenna is already asleep? Or Kailtyn just quietly reads in bed 30 min, etc? Just curious. I've never had roomsharing but I guess they just learn to fall asleep even when the other is up?? We have enough bedrooms but it might be something we did at some point so wondering how it works for you when they have different bedtimes.
We read to each child individually, so we put McKenna in bed and then read to kaitlyn in the family room. When she is done, she goes to bed. So the bedtime listed is when they are in bed, but not necessarily when then are asleep. I don't know the exact time they fall asleep. Sometimes McKenna is asleep but the time kaitlyn gets in there and sometimes she has waited for her.
