This is a summary for Brinley from 10 years old to 10.25 years old.

SLEEPING

Sleeping is all normal. Most of this time period was during school, so sleep has been very consistent with the school schedule.

EATING

Eating is all good! Nothing new to report.

SUMMER

The end of summer was good. There wasn’t anything huge that happened.

SCHOOL

School is great! She loves her teacher and has good friends. She loves school. She is in the gifted program again and loves that.

She never has homework, which I appreciate.

Brinley loves to run and took first place out of the girls in her grade in her school’s recent fun run. She was excited about that. When she finished, she wasn’t even winded or tired. It makes me wonder if she will love track or cross country when she gets in high school.

SOCCER

Fall soccer season happened during this period. Her team did well and improved a lot. It has been good.

INSTRUMENTS

She is still playing the piano and steadily improving at that. We do our piano lessons before school since our after school schedule changes a lot with soccer games.

She also joined the orchestra at school and is learning to play the viola. She was very interested in joining. We had to do some rearranging of our piano lessons, and by a small miracle, we were able to.

She has really enjoyed it so far. She has lots of friends doing it. She is the only viola at our school!

EMOTIONS

Anyone who has followed Brinley summaries much knows that Brinley is an emotional person. Something that has really helped with her being able to regulate herself is having animals. I know that sounds so “now”, but it really has been helpful.

For her to have a cat or a dog that she can cuddle is super helpful when she is upset.

Something else that has been helpful is The Kids’ Guide to Staying Awesome and In Control. It really helps kids have something tangible to do when they are starting to feel like they can’t control their emotions. It empowers them to be able to take control of their own reactions.

DAILY SCHEDULE

Here is her typical daily schedule on a school day.

7:00 AM – wake up and get ready for school.
8-9 AM – at school. The time varies depending on if it is an orchestra day or not.
4:00 PM – home. Piano practice. Chores. Play.
5:30 PM – dinner. Then free time and technology time.
8:30 PM – bedtime.
